Swallowed Up By the Sea

February 17, 2008 / by queenie

How on earth are we supposed to plan for tomorrow when we don't know what tomorrow will bring?  How do we make it through today without being blind-sided?  Is there a built in radar gene that the rest of the human race has, but I was shorted?

Roll with the flow.  yada.  yada.  yada.

This whole flow stuff is getting pretty old.  I have been adrift on this vast ocean we call life for far too long.  I want to set anchor.  I want to enjoy the lap of the waves, without wondering when the next tidal wave will hit.  I'm out of life jackets - no more wave riding for me.

Adrift at sea like a bouy

bobbing up and down

anchored somehow

moving with the waves

yet tied to the ground

Neither sinking nor swimming

just floating along

Something sharp strikes

the covering is pierced

deflating ever so gently

until no more can it float

swallowed up the sea

Reality is the present. The past is gone; the future is but a dream. Live the present-relish each moment--

I really like the imagery of the ending.

Yep, reality is today.  Yesterday is gone.  You can build on it, but the actions and results are as new as the day is.  Tomorrow?  It might come, but what it will bring will not be reality until it does exist.  So, accept the possibility that it MIGHT BE here like you accept the past as something that WAS here....but the only IS is today.  This is the only one that you CAN live.
