Living vs. Existing

March 17, 2008 / by queenie

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature.    Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.                  Helen Keller

Gosh, am I so glad I found this quote!    This describes why I am where I am.    Why I chose to give up the security of where I was.    Why I decided my life was for living instead of just existing.

I don't necessarily want daring adventures.    I want to feel.    I want my every breath to count for something.

Maybe it's foolishness, or my heads stuck in the clouds, or just an aversion to reality, but merely existing was is no longer an option for me.

You are alive now and feeling everything... good, bad and ugly.  Much better than the numbness.  It is a wonderful quote and quite fitting for so many of us.  Thanks for sharing it!

Thank you queenie for this post..

I've been in kinda a slump this past week myself.I know what has caused it,went with it,rode it out... And I am back up and in the sunshine again..

No more MICE pouring out of the tub drain, sort a good way for me to put it!!!I don't thrive very well as a hermit inside of myself.....

Don't ever think your alone in your dark periods..Most of us have those spells too.Not everyone is always riding the high wave,if they try to tell you they do, they live in a dream world..

    Another 'Hellen Keller' quote-

I am only one,But still am one...

I cannot do everything, but still I can do something...

I will refuse to do the something I can do.....

Take Heart my friend...This will be a memory sooner than later!!!

Wonderful quote.....I refuse to do the something I can do.  If someone as amazing as Ms. Keller can say that, then I don't feel quite so bad putting off till tomorrow what I should have done today (yesterday, last week, last month, last year.)

I'm sorry the last few days have been hard on you.  May this week find us all with bright smiley faces!Cool

exactly! "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that took your breath away"

I think we should all pool our quotes and write the next best-seller!
