Little White Lies

March 20, 2008 / by queenie

Your little white lies and avoidances of the truth

Hurt more than all of the black lies I've ever been told.

Each and every one erodes the trust I have in you

Casting shadows of doubt on all we've ever known.

Your tries to shield the truths eventually come to light

Black or white, their glare is as bright as the sun.

Do you not think, have you ever considered

These lies take away trust, until there is none?

So effortless and easy it is for you

They roll off of your tongue without even a ripple.

You're a master of misspeak and half-truths

Always blurring the lines when it should be so simple.

It seems honesty is something you don't comprehend

And love dies a little more with each and every lie.

Without trust, truth , and faith, what do I have?

A slowly dawning knowledge that you don't belong in my life.

#######

Just to clear up the difference (some people in my life don't seem to get it....):

A black lie is a statement that is false.

A white lie is a statement that is not in itself false, but that leaves out a significant part of the truth.
