Imagining My Life

February 20, 2008 / by queenie

Imagining my life, I never would have expected

To come across someone as extraordinary as you.

You somehow saw through the facade

and cared enough to tear down the walls

You threw open the windows of my heart

and let the breeze of life blow in

You freed me from a life alone

A fate I had grown to accept

My soul didn't dare to love or to trust

Betrayal was all it had known

But you I never doubted, I knew in my heart

In you I had found a friend, truer than all the rest

You were the safe haven I needed all along

Yet thought I'd never find

You brought color to my life and took away the grey

You made me feel beautiful from the inside out

And made me realize I mattered, I was important

I was loveable and could love too.

The sun shines brighter, the stars twinkle more

The mountaintops are higher, the valleys far below

My heart sings and my soul rejoices

In the freedom they have found

Imagining my life, I never would have expected

To come across anyone as extraordinary as you.

The metaphor at the beginning of the poem is excellent. I really enjoyed reading this.

Thanks.  The need to express myself has become so much stronger lately.  Maybe because I have an outlet for it other than the trash can.

Wow... you write such beautiful poetry, and it's so much more meaningful when its sung straight from the soul.

You know the part "And made me realize I mattered..."?    The words "MADE me realize"  clearly, undoubtedly suggest that you now KNEW, therefore KNOW that you matter, are important, are lovable, and can love.

I love this poetry, the entire piece is beautiful!  I can't get over how good it is and how wonderfully you write!

I want your gift!!!!!!  This is so beautiful and I am so glad you realize your worth.  I can't wait to feel that way again.
