Don’t trust.
Those words were never uttered
But spoken in too many ways
By the ones I trusted most.
Don’t feel.
My mind learned too soon
That feeling meant nothing but pain
And emptiness was best.
Don’t talk.
Meant to be seen and not heard
My voice was locked away
A sacrifice to their secrets.

It is such a shame the things we are taught or not taught as we grow up! That, combined with our learning curve slowing down with age, makes reframing/relearning so difficult!
It's sad when we learn from people and things that mold our expectations and ways when, in truth, all could have been molded so completely different if circumstances were different. It's hard to learn new ways, but if we remember that much of who we are comes from the results of situations and not because of it's all necessarily the only real way, then we can realize that we are not really who we think we are, but an image of the results. Strip away the situations and think how you would feel in those cases, and then you know your true inner self is a little or a lot different.
