Breathe

June 29, 2008 / by queenie

Breathing hurts - when I remember to.

Breathe in, breathe out

My chest crushed by the weight

Of my heavy heart,

Inhale deeply, exhale slowly

My brain doesn't remember

It's job is involuntary

And to keep me alive.

Count to ten, breathe again

For what purpose I can't recall

I just know I have to do it

This is my life, after all.

Thanks Faith.  Sometimes I don't get the rhythm right, but the words have to stay the way they are.

    I appreciate your kind words.

Oh, yeah, breathing can be such an effort sometimes...I remember times when I wanted to be left alone and so far away from everything that I didn't even want to have to worry about breathing.  Sleeping was easiest, if dreams didn't interrupt and bother me, because then it was the most peaceful and effortless times I could have.  Thankfully, even though a good sleep is still much appreciated, I now can breathe a lot easier and I enjoy almost every breath...oh, but I am thankful for all my breaths.  I hope you, too, will reach the day when you feel this way, too.

    Breathing is highly over-rated!
