"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."
Suppose there's a reason sage axioms such as this one have been around for generations. Could it be because they are universally true, withstanding the boundaries of time, generations, situations?
Longing for something can sometimes blind us to what is right before our eyes. We may think the grass is greener, but has it ever really been so? If we stay on our side of the fence and tend to what we have, it just might thrive more than we could imagine - before long the grass on the other side will pale in comparison.
When you don't know what you want, it's hard to appreciate what you have.
I am fortunate to have someone in my life who has stood by my side, nurtured me, pampered and romanced me like I've never been before. He knows my heart is raw, and he accepts it may never be his. But he's still here, still letting me know everyday how much I matter, showing me he loves me.
I'm not ready for love again. Don't know that I ever will be. But I am ready for a peaceful existence.
I am lucky to have a bird in my hand, for the ones in the bush may never be caught.

And you never know, the bird in the hand may just be the one that you eventually share the nest with! I know that after spending 25 years married to one man, I didn't think I'd ever find the man I had always dreamed of. Then lo and behold, there he was, right before my eyes. We aren't 'married' on paper, but we are married in our hearts.
How wonderful for you.......I hope I am so lucky.
You know the phrase, "Que sera, sera"....whatever will be, will be. So, if you really look at what is good in your life right now and let it be, allowing it to be while dismissing the bad and things from the past that are not anymore...then you have something in your hand...you have whatever (it) will be. The two in the bush are not yours...if they are meant to be, then they will find their way into your hand. But, if not, you didn't waste your time or any of your life by not enjoying what you already had in your hand.
Donna----I appreciate your refreshing outlook on life......can you please come to Texas, kick my ass, and whoop me into shape?
You are a great cheerleader and motivator. Your friends and loved ones are lucky to have you.
